The scenario of this audio-visual tale originates from the authors’ phantasy. The story focusses on a community of “Trolls”: small, magic creatures with almost human characteristics which play a role in many Scandinavian folk stories. Music and illustrations, – more than 90 static pictures by Rik van Linden van den Heuvell -, depict together how the Trolls react on the barren conditions of the arctic winter, on each other and on the violent transition of the winter into the spring.
The DVD presents 4 films: in the first film, “Magic Winter” (cat.nr. 11) is used as the audio-track, in the second one, the “Symfonietta” (cat.nr. 27). The scenario is the same for both versions; the duration of the first film is ½ min. shorter, and hence the number of illustrations smaller.
The third film gives an impression of the rehearsals and recording sessions of the first audio-track, the fourth film shows the different techniques Rik used in his illustrations.
Duration films: I: 18, II: 18½, III: 7, IV: 2 mins.
The scenario is read between the three movements of the audio-tracks by the British actor Stewart Clapp.
