The work has been written as a contribution to the course “Composing for the carillon”, organised by the “Nederlandse Klokkenspel-Vereniging” (Dutch Carillon Society) on the occasion of the 100-years’ anniversary of the society.
At a performance, the carillon part will be played live by a carilloneur, synchronically with the sound track, which is played via a loudspeaker mounted outside the tower. Synchronicity between the parts must be realised by a click track led to the carilloneur by one side of a head phone. Simultaneously, the other side of the head phone transmits the sound track.
The sound track must be realised by recording a church organ, following the tempo given by the click track. The tempo of the click track is indicated by metronome numbers in the score.
